Meet us
Hello, we are Catherine and Steve, the proud owners of Bumblebees and Buttercups Childcare and Learning Centre.
We live in the Waikato and have four beautiful children. We started our childcare journey early in 2017 when we recognised the need for a Centre in the small community we live in. It felt like a natural fit for us and lined up with our family values and community focus. Steve was born in Morrinsville, so it’s really exciting to be able to provide this high quality purpose built Centre in his home town.
We are really excited about being able to offer childcare and learning services because as working parents, we understand the difference a quality childcare can make in the lives of busy families. We are also excited about being able to offer not only a lovely indoor learning space but also lots of outdoor space in a beautiful setting as we believe there are so many learning opportunities outdoors.
Meet Becs
Kia ora koutou, My name is Becs and it is both my pleasure and privilege to be leading the team here at Bumblebees and Buttercups.
I have been teaching and leading in early childhood education since 1996 and have worked for private services, community based and within public kindergartens. Relationships and encouraging the unique strengths and characteristics of both tamariki and the Kaiako around me is at the heart of my mahi. The well-being of tamariki is incredibly important to me and working alongside our team to ensure we have an environment for all tamariki to flourish, and where whānau feel welcomed is my focus every day I come through our doors. As a Kaiako, I value an environment where I can be me and share my passions, which include literacy and outdoor play. I particularly enjoy oral language, storytelling and creating safe risk-taking opportunities for tamariki to grow.
My own whānau relocated from Auckland to Cambridge in 2017, and we love living in the Waikato (fog is the exception!). My husband Rob is a Supervisor in a Manufacturing Plant and we have two teenage girls and a furry friend that completes our whānau. We love taking trips down to Whakatane where extended whānau live and enjoying the beautiful coastline down that way.
